Rice, Rousseau, right!

Hakuna Matata!

Jungle in London, Jungle in Paris
The Lion King Musical really brought the Jungle to London. And Rousseau's exhibition at the Tate modern brought me into his imaginary jungle.
Both are a celebration of humanity, of the human imagination.
Its been quite sometime since I've been to the theatre and I must say that I have been missing out so much. The movies can never compare to the theatre. I love how props are ornate, intricate and ingenious yet without taking away the need for some imagination.
Imagination.
In this age where our capacity to imagine is being diminished by Xboxes, Playstations and cable TV, the musical is a stunning reminder of the need to allow our brain to do what it is supposed to do. To Imagine, to Dream and to Think for itself.
The theatre is also a reminder of the need for human interaction. I love the direct transmission of human emotions from the actors onstage to the audience. In the highly digitised world we call home, that is something that is sorely lacking. It is probably the same genus that leads one to say "you can never fax a handshake". Nothing beats the human touch. Maybe the sci fi scenes of computers taking over the world are not so distant now. They may not enslave us directly but may do so indirectly, through making us less human, more mechanical, more computer. The theatre seems to be holding up against the onslaught of the cinema. But for how long? How long more till we sacrifice the theatre and all that it stands for on the alter of convenience or technological advancement? Just like what we did with the good ole fashioned hand written letter. Sacrificed in favour or email. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating that we turn back the clock on technology. I am just expressing my concern at the need to retain some humanity in human beings as we progress.

Boxing Day Ironies

Overwhelmed by the Tsunami of Shoppers at the Boxing Day sale today.
We were there because WJ wanted to shop but I ended up buying more than her *blush*.
Ok enough faux modesty. Merry Christmas!
WJ: oh no, too bad you can't put up a photo.
JT: I agree...

*addendum*
Would Mr Timotheus check his email and Ms Joanne Ong reply the sms she received.

Perspectives, Eye 2 Eye

I see you. Do you see me?

Not everything is about winning. And even victory can be hollow.
Not everything is about right or wrong. And nobody is faultless.
But everything between us is about Love. And love is all we need.
Not victories, not arguments, not rights nor wrongs...
The sun sets on the war,
the day breaks and everything is new.

Tomorrow will be a beautiful day.

Convincingly Confused

Waking up with a hangover on the day of your exams is not a good sign. Many thanks to Timotheus for luring me down to the common room to indulge in Man U's exit from the Champion's League. And many thanks to the 2 Danes with the bottle of vodka.
So I have decided to adopt Swindle LLC's moto for the exams later. If you can't convince, confuse. This photo is from a series of ad campaigns after the re-branding exercise that the firm went through a few months back. This is suppose to be a more "lifestyle" image which most corporations are trying to portray these days. The re-branding exercise was such a chore but it had to be done. So, goodbye boring MIB costumes , Hello casual wear, new catchy motto and a more Bling Bling font for our firm name. We even adopted a more pop culturish approach to our pose. From Left to Right you have, The Thinker, The Looks, The Badboy and ummmm the the... Girl. I must admit that although we have undergone a serious makeover, the work culture is still the same as before. Good or Bad? I leave that up to you to decide. Moral of the story, appearances matter more than substance. And if you can't convince, confuse.

TickerTimer

A second for every tick that sounds.
A ring when it finishes its round.
I sit here eagerly waiting for the ring.
Anticipating what the 12th brings.
hohohoho
Going mad from reading for my first exam which is tomorrow. Not mad from the workload but from the fact that the brain has been in cold storage for the past 5 months. Hmmm you can't really be insane if you don't have a brain can you?
I was duped into taking this class by its glossy title. International Trade and Finance Law. Sounds nice doesn't it?
The course should be called EUROPEAN trade and finance law. The only thing international about this class is Me.

25h

Just 6 more of these candles till you are here.

Instruments of Measure

Dials, Gauges, Clocks. Instruments of torture.
The calendar a razor, the clock a cleaver.
Time. Just pass me by.

*******
Death for Saddam but not for Nguyen? Of course. Saddam isn't Australian.
"Call it hypocrisy if you like, I just call it normal human commonsense"
Double standards? Most definately. Only a naive fool would believe in a universal standard.
But if you make a commonsense judgment based on values, why criticise another for doing so?
What exactly is commonsense?
Mr Howard, your comments regarding the death penalty for Saddam were so...ummm..."Barbaric".

Relativity

"Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity."
- Albert Einstein
And constantly checking my watch will not help time go by any faster. Can somebody please press the Fast Forward button!

Santa Baby

The latest addition to the christmas ensemble that has gathered on my coffee table.
So now I have the tree, christmas lamps and a Santa Claus. All that is missing are the presents under the tree. But there is only just one present that I want! Hurry Hurry Santa! Please give me my present earlier! I've been a very good boy! I've only drank when thirsty, swore when necessary and have always minded my Ps and Qs!
I can't wait for the 12th. Plus the exams are making the wait unbearably painful.

TOUGHLOVE,LOVE'STOUGH

View from the Alhambra, Granada.
Lights from the Albaicin sparkle like diamonds in the night.
Diamonds... Alluring, Stunning, but Hard.
It is after all still a rock, albeit a beautiful one.

Enough melancholy. Some Lomo Photos to lighten things up.
